Multiple Disabilities Program
Students with Multiple Disabilities are identified as having a combination of two or more disabilities and a severe deficit in communcation and/or adaptive behavior. The program serves students ages 5-22 with kindergarten through 12th-grade classroom settings located within East Muskingum and Tri-Valley Local School Districts. A community-based post-secondary program is housed at MVESC's Zanesville's Center.
Our Multiple Disabilities program staff has developed the BASICS program (Building Accountable Students in Community Settings) as the way to deliver a functional curriculum aligned with the Ohio's Academic Content Standards. The primary purpose of the program is to help each student reach his or her greatest possible level of independence. BASICS provides an age appropriate, developmentally-relevant continuum of functional academic and community integration activities. Parent and community involvement are important elements of the program.
