Family Civic Engagement

Statutory Requirements

Ohio Revised Code Sec. 3313.821 requires all Boards of Education and invites STEM and community schools to appoint a Family and Civic Engagement (FCE) Team. The FCE Team is mandated to work with county Family and Children First Councils to create a five-year Family and Civic Engagement Plan and annually report on implementation progress to the county Family and Children First Council.

A Family Civic Engagement Team must have the following representation:

  • Parents
  • Community
  • Health and human services representatives
  • Business representatives
  • Other participants selected by districts
